"Mac" Massoud Djourabchi is an avid grower of exotic fruit. His fruit grove consists of Turkish fig, Cumquat, Persimmon, Mulberry, Quince, Orange, Lime, Grapefruit and Lemon to name a few. This may not sound exotic but for Washington state most of these fruit are not common.

Mac's secret is his vermicompost mulch rings around his fruit trees. He vermicomposts the neighbors horse manure and his food debris into a balanced disease resistance fertilizer that helps him produce a high volume of healthy fruit.

His original goal was to become an arborist so he started working as a realtor to afford his education. Mac is now a multi million dollar producer for Remax and his website is mactherealtor.com , so now he is able to pursue his arborist nature as a hobby. For more information contact Mac at his website.

Micki Carrier & Sasha have contributed some of their personal time and resources to show others the importance of composting. As Micki put it, "Food waste reduction is important in reducing landfill mass, which affects climate change. The rich compost helps to replace much-needed topsoil." In this photo Micki and Sasha have brought their compost bin and display to a neighborhood picnic to demonstrate the redworm composting process.

Micki is an entreprenuer in the field of caregiving services. She is the owner of Caregiver Connection Inc. in Portland Oregon, which serves the Portland Metro/Vancouver area. Here is a small intro of her business (see website for more information): www.CaregiverConnectionPDX.com

"Caregiver Connection offers a unique registry of approximately 100 caregivers that clients hire directly for a referral fee. Our independent caregivers offer services ranging from companionship to hospice level care; clients and caregivers determine the details of their arrangement. We accept only the top 15-20% of candidates to our registry, and our retention level is high, as they earn 75-85% of the fee."
